  • SSURGOCOMP  SSURGOCOMP is a table that provides information on soil components and their physical properties in tabular format for 11 soil survey areas in Maine. The table was compiled from tabular data of the National Soil Information System by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Tables for the soil survey area ME608 were downloaded from the MUIR web site http://ortho.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/muir/, those for ME027, ME031, ME601, ME610, ME611, ME613, ME615 from http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/, for ME011, ME602, ME606 from http://soils.usda.gov/survey/nmuir/. The USDA/NRCS Soil Data Mart at http://soildatamart.nrcs.usda.gov/ replaces these sites. The SSURGOCOMP table contains the field MUID for relate to soil survey area map unit polygons. The field SEQMUID was concatenated from two existing fields MUID and SEQNUM, and added to the table to provide a relate item to the table SSURGOLAYERS. Other fields are coded for proportionate extent of the component soil within the map unit, range of slope, class determining phase criteria, soil surface texture, acreage, classification code, flood, ponding, water table characteristics, depth to bedrock, bedrock hardness, depth to cemented pan, susceptibility to frost heave, concrete and steel corrosion, capability for irrigated and non-irrigated agricultural use, natural drainage condition, subsidence characteristics, and hydric soil rating. For more information on the tabular data and codes included in this table see http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/pdf/ssurgo_db.pdf and http://soils.usda.gov/survey/nmuir/index.html. Relate fields are data type TEXT, some statistical fields are data type NUMBER. Data in this format is not available for more recently published soil surveys and ME005 Cumberland County, ME617 Aroostook Northeast, and ME607 Washington County. For more information please see the Supplemental Information section of this metadata document.

  • SSURGOLAYERS  SSURGOLAYERS is a table that provides information on soil layers (horizons) for soil components in tabular format for 11 soil survey areas in Maine. The table was compiled from tabular data of the National Soil Information System by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Tables for the soil survey area ME608 were downloaded from the MUIR web site http://ortho.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/muir/, those for ME027, ME031, ME601, ME610, ME611, ME613, ME615 from http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/ssur_data.html, for ME011, ME602, ME606 from http://soils.usda.gov/survey/nmuir/db_description.html. The table contains the field SEQMUID that relates the table to the same field in SSURGOCOMP. Other fields are coded for layer depth, erodibility, rock fragments, percent by weight passing sieves sizes 4, 10, 40, 200, clay content, liquid limit, plasticity, engineering class, AASHTO group classification, ph, salinity, sodium absorption, cation exchange, calcium carbonate content, gypsum content, permeability rate, and shrink/swell potential. For more information on the tabular data and codes included in this table see http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/pdf/ssurgo_db.pdf. Relate fields are data type TEXT, some statistical fields are data type NUMBER. Data in this format is not available for more recently published soil surveys and ME005 Cumberland County, ME617 Aroostook Northeast, and ME607 Washington County.
